According to the latest PSNI’s statistics the crime rate in northern Ireland has hit its lowest in over 15 years.

for this past financial year police in northern Ireland had to deal with 100,389 crimes which was a 3% reduction compared to the previous financial year.

It is the lowest crime rate since the 1998 – 1999  new reporting rules were introduced.

The number of crimes that the police cleared rose from 26.3% to 26.4% which is an irrelevant increase as it is so small.

Anti-social behaviour was the most reported crime  in the financial year with the police receiving over 65,000 complaints.

Reports of sexual offences, theft, fraud, and drug offences all increased whilst robbery, violence and criminal damage all decreased.

Chief Constable Matt Baggott said:

“I am very pleased that reported crime has now fallen to a 15 year low.

“Every day, police officers and our staff work tirelessly across Northern Ireland, to keep people safe and this shows that their courage, commitment and determination is making a real difference.

“This encouraging news should be seen alongside ever increasing levels of confidence in police and very positive victim satisfaction results.

“Taken together they show that policing is contributing fully to create a safer and positive future.”

A Kentucky boy aged 5 accidentally shot his 2 year old sister with a 22-calibre rifle that he got for his birthday after his mum just popped out for a few minutes but those minutes were fatal.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Billy Gregory said: ”It’s just one of those nightmares, a quick thing that happens when you turn your back.”

He also added : “Young children in the area are often introduced to guns at an early age.

“In this part of the country, it’s not uncommon for a 5-year-old to have a gun or for a parent to pass one down to their kid,”

Cumberland County Coroner Gary White said : “The boy was playing with it Tuesday when it accidentally went off and killed his sister”

“The little Crickett rifle is a single-shot rifle, and it has a child safety,” . It’s just a tragic situation.”

This storey has raised huge concerns like how can you let a 5 year old boy have access to a loaded gun. We understand there are traditions in places where it as seen as a common thing to do but surely give them a gun that is not loaded and if you want them to practise shooting load the gun under your supervision. Do not leave a loaded gun for a 5 year old to play with unsupervised because nine times out of ten it will end the same as this.

New figures from the office of national statistics show that crime has fell by 8% compared to last year.

All the main and most worrying crimes where all down including violence and sex crime but a minor crime which had risen was pickpocketing.

The researchers say that the increase in pickpocketing was due to an increase in a number of young people carrying smart phones.

In 2012 there was 107,471 incidents of theft in person which was up 99,396 from 2011.

Researchers said in the report :

“Anecdotal evidence suggests this is being driven by increases in mobile phone thefts, especially against younger victims.

“A widely reported increase in the number of thefts from the person committed in London by criminals on bicycles and mopeds may also be a contributory factor.”

Opemipo Jaji, 18 today faces a life sentences for raping an 11 year old girl as she made her way back from school.

He claims he is innocent despite the girls blood being found on his cloths and also previous convictions with an attack on a 12 year old and for making indecent pictures of girls.

In November as the girl made her way back from home he dragged her into Jubilee Park in Enfield.

He spotted the girl on the bus and decided to follow her and threatened to stab her and stuffed her mouth with one of her gloves.

The school girl finally made it home at 5:30 pm and had to under go an operation from the injuries.

She said:

“He kept saying, ’Stop moving or I will stab you’. I tried to run away but then he grabbed me when I got to the pavement of the park entrance.

“I kept on saying ’stop’ because it was hurting me and he kept saying ’shut up’ to me. He was just saying it every time I spoke.

“When I was on the floor, he said he would film me and send it into my school. I was saying ’Get off me, get off me, stop’.”

Melanie Smith, 42, is the lady who allegedly created the fire that led to the death’s of Lee-Anna Shiers, her fiancé and her three children and what is said to be that the motivation behind the fire was a Pram that sat in the hallway. Also Mrs Smith was also said to be drinking heavily before she performed the act that cost five lives.

She initially just wanted to burn the Pram but the fire soon spread up the stairs.

It is said that the reason she set the pram on fire was because she was fed up of it being in her stairwell.

She also believed that Lee-Anna was having an affair with her partner which broke out a row in the pub and she was quoted saying : “You’re s****ing the woman upstairs. I’ll burn the house down with her and the kids in it.”

Mrs Smith has denied all charges as the trial continues.

Three people have been arrested after a man said to be in his 50′s who has not been named as of yet.

Police where called to the scene at an address in Alvescot road in the West Oxfordshire town of Carterton just before 8 am on Thursday 21st of March.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and now police have opened up an investigation to the people or person responsible for his death.

Two Men aged 48 and 59 along with a women aged 27 have been arrested and are currently being question but police say the investigation is at a very early stage.

Det Supt Stan Gilmour said, “The investigation is at a very early stage with officers from Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit leading the murder investigation.”

Earlier this morning at 7:40 am emergency services were called to A456 Hagley Road to the scene where a girl had been viscously stabbed and murdered.

Hagley road is predicted to be closed for most of the day so drivers using the route are recommended to find an alternative route to avoid traffic.

Forensics were seen going into the bus to investigate.

A spokesman from National Express West Midlands said: “We can confirm that a tragic incident took place on a number 9 service this morning.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the person involved and we will offer all possible support to the police in their investigation into the matter.”

The stabbing has also affected the routes of the following buses 9, 120, 126, 127, 128, 129, 140 and 141.

The young girl who has not been named was abducted from her troubled family in London and taken to Ipswich and a sucject of a string of assults over a four day period.

Suran Uddin, 28, Mohammed Sheikh, 31, Hamza Ali, 38, all denied various sex allegations in a 3 week trial.

After 3 days of jury deliberations the 3 men were found guilty of conspiracy to traffic in the UK and supplying the young girl with a Class B drug and Uddin was also convicted of 2 counts of rape.

The Men will be sentenced at a later date but it is sure they spend a lengthy period in jail.

Kevin Hutchinson-Foster, 30, has been convicted and found guilty of supplying Mark Duggan with the gun that resorted into Mark Duggan being killed and sparking of a riot that spread all over London.

Mark Duggan who was aged 29 had picked up the gun just 15 minutes before he was shot dead on august the 4th.

The police have told us that Duggan was put under surveillance as they had reason to believe that he was seeking revenge after one of his cousins was murdered.

After Mark picked up the gun he called a taxi to travel back to Tottenham where he was pulled over by four police cars and as he come out of the vehicle he was shot in the chest and the arm.

The armed officers who gave evidence said that they saw mark with the gun and thought that he was going to open fire at them so before he did they opened fire at him.

Chief Superintendent Dean Haydon said: “There is an ongoing IPCC investigation into the death of Mark Duggan and the circumstances of his death will be a matter for the coroner at a later date.

“The Kevin Hutchison Foster trial has primarily been about the supply of an illegal firearm and I welcome the verdict of the jury in this case today.”

CPS London chief crown prosecutor Alison Saunders said: “We are committed to tackling the menace of gun crime and will continue working closely with the police to pursue and prosecute those who supply or transfer the weapons that have caused terrible pain to so many families.

“This conviction sends a strong message that gun crime and violence will not be tolerated in London.”

Dogan Ismail, 17 was killed on an estate in Walworth after Dogan tried to retrieve his younger brothers phone which was stolen from him earlier that day on the 30th of December, He then came across the four males who had then fatally injured Dogan who then sadly died.

Since the murder the police have been trying to trace a 15 year old who was last seen on the day of the murder has now been arrested and is being held in custody.

Another Male has been charged for the murder, Anthony Munroe aged 18 who will go to court on the 1st of march.

A 24 year old women had also been arrested on the 10th of January after she was suspicious in helping the 4 males steal the phone.
